I have been struck with a wave of ideas, ideas that are popping up too quickly for me to jot down into the novel-length forms I want to write. The problems of transferring schools has made it hard for me to get myself writing, because I know I’ll be stalled once I return to school. What would’ve taken me a few months to write first drafts of one, maybe even two, novels now feels as if it will take over a year to write just one.
I don’t give up hope though, dear readers, because writing is what I intend to do for the rest of my life. Though I may continue to write for literary journals, that’s not exactly my lifelong goal. I want to write young adult books, particularly in the fantasy and science fiction sub-genres. Once I reach the goal of publication of my first novel, I have to continue jotting down every single idea that leaps into my brain and quickly put it into words others can read and enjoy.
Although it will be a long journey ahead of me, I intend to move forward. It may be years before I see any one of my books in print, but I will get there.
I just need to aim for that goal, and continue no matter what life throws my way.
I have appeared, once again, in two new literary journals! My poem, “The Thoughts That Cross My Mind When I Incorrectly Call Myself ‘Bisexual'” can be found in The Asexual‘s latest issue here, and my story, “A Pebble on the Road”, can be found in Planted Word‘s latest issue here.
I hope you enjoy these pieces!
I have recently appeared in two publications recently. Moledro has published two sets of my poetry (including a haiku collection I have written), and Seven by Twenty has published one of my poems today.
More pieces of mine will be published in the days ahead, including three stories of mine. Unfortunately I can’t post here much this week, so I will be updating the Works page as I am published. Be sure to check that page for updates throughout the week!
Have a blessed week, all! I look forward to posting more as soon as I get the time (and wish) to do so.
Exciting news, all! My fantasy piece, Not Your Average Fairy Tale, has just been released in Blue Marble Review. This is exciting. Beyond exciting, really, because I really enjoyed writing this story. I’m pleased to be sharing it with all of you here.
If you’d like to read the rest of the magazine, click here. If you’d like to download a copy of this wonderful literary magazine, there is a button that reads “Download Issue #6”. Click there, and watch magic happen!
I hope my piece warms your hearts to the fullest!
I haven’t updated in a while, and I sincerely apologize for that. With college classes drawing to an end, I had difficulty even finding the time to write! However, I’m back now with news–both good and bad ones.
As is customary, I’ll begin with the good news. I have a link with my published works up which you can view here.
Not as exciting as this next bit:
I GOT 5TH PLACE IN A CONTEST!!!
Yes, I put it as a link, because it truly is exciting news! I’m more than honored to have received a writing award because I truly did not expect it. My piece will be featured on the website next Saturday, and I will be placing the link through my list of published works and–hopefully–through a blog post as well. Let’s hope!
Now I said there was bad news…
Unfortunately my radio show, The Maddie Show, will be temporarily cancelled until further notice. As of now, I’m not sure whether or not it will be permanently cancelled or temporarily cancelled. I’ll let you know as time moves on.
That’s all the time I have for now. Hope everyone is doing well!
Hey again, all!
I just wanted to give a quick update before returning to my errands for the day. My fiction story, “The Couple” has been featured on the first released issue of The Asexual Journal, and I’m very excited about it! You can read the story here, and find out more about this literary journal here.
Thanks for reading, and have a wonderfully blessed day!
Hello again, all!
I just wanted to let all of you know yet another exciting announcement: I have been featured in the Sunday Stories-Spring 2017 section of Persephone’s Daughters. The piece that has been featured is a non-fictional piece of mine called “My War Zone”.
However, I must give a TRIGGER WARNING for graphic language regarding past physical and sexual abuse. If this is too strong for you, please know that you are in no way required to read it, and I want to make that very clear. On the other hand, if you would like to read my piece and hear me speak up about some of the matters I and others have suffered through, you are welcome to browse through here and read my own story here.
Thank you all so much for your support, and I wish you all a wonderful week!
I just thought I’d share some exciting news. My story, “The Last Letter”, was longlisted in the Brilliant Flash Fiction Writing Contest! You are welcome to see the award listing here:
BRILLIANT Flash Fiction Writing Contest – Overseas Travel
Unfortunately, I won’t be posting the story here on my blog, because I will be trying to get it published. However, I feel that this was a pretty nice accomplishment: Getting into the third rounds.
Have a great day, all, and stay warm!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Remember to wear green today and celebrate!
Also, may I interest you in a story of mine I have written for this day? Patrick’s Passage is my historical-fantasy take on a fragment of St. Patrick’s story. It is not meant to be taken as literal, because the only portion of the story that is actually true is that St. Patrick had to take a ship to England during his escape from Ireland.
Feel free to comment on the story. All feedback is welcome and appreciated, and I appreciate the comments that have been made on the story so far. Also, don’t forget to give your own rating for the story! All of this will help me immensely in my future writings.
Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go look for a rainbow…
